I have enjoyed working as a partner in mental health and wellness for nearly 20 years. It is my hope that as I walk alongside the client he or she will recognize strengths, develop skills and embrace healing. While I have specialized training in some complex issues, I believe much of a counselor’s work involves helping people deal with the struggles most of us face on a daily basis.
A life-long Lutheran and pastor's wife, I have a passion for the issues faced by church workers and their families. Prior to entering private practice I served Concordia Seminary's campus community providing counseling services, speaking and writing in my role as director of the on-campus Counseling and Resource Center.
I work with unique individuals, couples and families and do not believe that one-size-fits-all. Therefore, I tailor sessions to meet client individual need. My therapeutic approach utilizes family systems, cognitive behavioral, and solution focused treatment modalities. Areas of experience include: relationship and communication difficulties; couples and families in crisis; clients facing transition; clergy and military dynamics; bereavement; depression; abuse survivors; trauma survivors. I hold certifications in premarital and marital counseling; critical incident stress management; suicide intervention; post trauma/ptsd with military application; and domestic violence intervention.
I am an Approved Clinical Supervisor of graduate level counselors-in-training and licensure candidates. I am a nationally certified, licensed Christian counselor.
